A Little Co-op History
The Village Store Co-op opened in 1976 as a New York State, not-for-profit corporation, member-owned and run. We dedicated ourselves to serving our members as well as the larger community with wholesome foods at reasonable prices.
We shared space with the Village Store in the Hubbard Hall building up until November 10, 2009 at which time we opened at 1 West Main Street in our own building with double the space and the new name of Cambridge Food Co-op.
Everyone is welcome at the Co-op, both members and non-members. We rely entirely on members to cover the store each day, determine the rules and regulations, elect members of our Advisory Board and, in general, work toward the goals and principles expressed in our by-laws. The Co-op is working to support local food products and agriculture.
