The Cheese Club at the Co-op

The Cheese Club is a monthly cheese subscription club for  Co-op members hosted by Helen McIntosh, Co-op cheese buyer and local chef.

This is an opportunity to get first dibs on new, specialty, and seasonal cheeses from the Co-op. When you sign up for cheese club you agree to purchase an 8 oz. piece of the “Cheese of the Month” or upgrade to any size piece. The Cheese of the Month will be pre-selected and emailed to cheese club members and published here with the price and a brief description. Members have the option to opt out of any month. Cheese pickup will be once a month around the 15th.

Cheese Club Member perks:

  • Help pick the cheese of the month. Make special requests! Share your cheese knowledge and passion.

  • Give feedback after tasting the cheeses and vote on whether the Co-op should stock each cheese.

  • Earn a $5 reward coupon after three months of cheese club participation.

  • Cheese tasting party at the coop twice annually for cheese club members.  We will sample cheeses from the Co-op and pair them with other delicious items (spreads, preserves, fruits, crackers, nuts, chocolates, etc...)  available at the Co-op. Verano VT Shep.PNG

"Verano" from VT Shepherd is made with the spring and summer milk when

the ewes are on fresh pasture. They practice "intensive rotational grazing" which means they have fresh pasture every 12 hours or at every milking. It is cave aged for 3-5 months in their man made cave dug four feet underground into the side of the mountain. The cave houses over 20,000 pounds of their farmstead cheese sitting on wooden boards and turned, brushed or washed daily.

"Verano is a smooth and creamy, semi-hard cheese with a sweet, rich and earthy flavor. The rustic wheel has a rough, golden brown rind. We make our cheeses only during pasture season when the sheep graze on clover, grasses and wild herbs."

As always, you may opt out or increase your order! Please let me know by October 10th.
